Wellbeing

With Refine Woodwork

There are a number of things that can be done to aid and improve your mental health and wellbeing.

  • Having a go at some woodwork could help you to feel more positive and able to get more out of life.
  • Trying woodwork with others helps you to build a sense of belonging and support for each other, as well as learning something new.
  • Some skills, such as sawing, can be physical so you might be gently challenged, but it’s also fine to have a rest!
  • Chisels can be very sharp in order to cut through wood effectively, so you need to be thoughtful of your surroundings and aware that you don’t injure yourself.

Refine Woodwork offers you an opportunity to ‘have a go’ and develop woodwork skills in a relaxed and peaceful workshop, where you can work at your own pace on smaller projects.  Examples of these projects could be making decorative Christmas trees, coasters or tea light holders.

You may be a total beginner or already have some experience with woodwork hand tools.  In either case, you will be shown how to use tools safely and properly, at a pace that you are comfortable with.
